Community

  • Historically the people within the Shire of Chapman Valley have always had a strong sense of community. This is increasing with the introduction of diverse industry bringing diverse people, with new skils, talents and enthusiasm.
  • People place a high value on our community assets and history, which is an essential part of holding strong community pride.
  • Our community and community groups are becoming well known for their incredible sense of community, through programs such as Community Builders. It involves showcasing where we live and how we live to outside regional and rural communities. This has brought about partnerships with outside organisations to bring more opportunities for our Shire.
  • Because of this there is a growing urge to showcase our assets through community events, bringing people from the outer areas to share what our community is so proud of.
  • What is our community so proud of?
History, successful industry, our people, sport, Coronation Beach, unique scenery - Moresby Ranges, Chapman River, wildflowers.
  • The new Valley Vibes Community Newspaper has been an integral part of creating awareness of council, community organisations, tourism, agriculture, environment, education and local events. The formation of this new asset in our community is proof of the level of enthusiasm people have to communicate with each other, and link up our individuals, groups and businesses. The success of the newspaper has gone beyond anyone's expectations, it is now rated highly not only in our own community, but in surrounding areas also.
  • Past residents also still like to keep attached to Chapman Valley is some way, either by keeping their CV number plates, or by subscribing to the Valley Vibes. This is always a give away that people leaving Chapman Valley will always call it home!
