Moresby Ranges Plan

Over the past months the Shire of Chapman Valley has been working with a range of key stakeholders in planning the future of the Moresby Ranges. In order to plan for the future the Shire has implemented a number of consultation processes to help determine what the community values about the Moresby Ranges and how they would like to see them develop. This consultation process has included a community meeting at the Waggrakine Hall, which provided an opportunity for interested members of the community to put forward their ideas and visions for the Ranges. Members at the meeting were invited to register their interest to attend a one-day Inquiry By Design workshop with invited guests covering various areas of specialization [i.e. developers, planners, natural resource management, water etc]. The Inquiry By Design, held at the Greenough council chambers, enabled everyone in attendance to put forward [including drawing/mapping] their vision for possible future development of the Moresby Ranges.
In May the Moresby Range Management Plan Committee met to discuss matters of transition and tenure, having previously discussed findings from around 250 surveys received. A draft report is expected to be made available for public comment by the 30th June 2009.
