Women's Health Awareness

Local community groups promote women's health in the Valley

The Yuna CWA and Chapman Valley Historical Society, with support from the Shire, recently gained funding support through the Cancer Council in Geraldton to hold Pap Smear promotional events in Yuna and Nanson.

A morning tea was held in Yuna by Yuna CWA. Tunya Brown from the Cancer Council in Geraldton gave an informative talk on the importance of PAP Smears and having the test once every two years. Following Tunya’s talk was a jewellery-making workshop kindly supported by jeweller/artist Debbie Crothers.

The Chapman Valley Historical Society held a ladies luncheon at the Nanson Museum to help further the reach of PAP smear awareness in the Valley. Both events were well supported and received positive feedback from participants.
