Council to protect staff leave during Covid-19 Pandemic

The Shire of Chapman Valley Council will increase leave entitlements of staff during the current Corona Virus pandemic.

Shire of Chapman Valley Council President, Anthony Farrell said at yesterday’s Council meeting, measures were unanimously supported to assist staff facing quarantine or isolation.

“Council passed a resolution that recognises in these uncertain times that increased personal and carers leave will be available to staff.

“The Shire has much direct contact with the community, and the health and safety of our team and frontline staff are important to us.

“I thank our staff for their commitment to delivering wide ranging services to our community.

“The Council has agreed that provisions must be made to leave entitlements. Many scenarios may come into play as Covid-19 cases increase daily across Australia. It is important we are prepared, and our staff have a safe working environment,” Mr Farrell said.

The Shire resolution as passed and to be included in Council minutes i.e.: “Council introduce a maximum of up to 14 working days additional paid personal and/or carers leave for staff in the event of absence for imposed isolation due to the COVID-19 virus. To be implemented at the discretion of the CEO.”

The Shire of Chapman Valley continues to work closely with the State and Federal Government in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
