Recovery Contact Details and Information

 Please see below for a range of services and details relating to information that could be of assistance in the recovery period.

SHIRE ADMINISTRATION

  • The Shire administration building is experiencing the impacts of ongoing power outages. The Shire is open for telephone queries at this stage, when telecommunication signal allows. When mains power returns, the Shire will promote its regular opening times.

SHIRE FACILITIES

  • Shire facilities will need to be assessed for damage and safety prior to reopening. Please contact the Shire on 9920 5011 if you have an upcoming booking.

FINANCIAL SUPPORT

  • The Australian Government is currently providing financial support to those directly affected in the Shire of Northampton. Surrounding Shire’s do not qualify for these payments. Should this change, we will update the community.

VOLUNTEERING

  • If you would like to offer accommodation or register your interest for potential volunteering opportunities, visit www.volunteeringwa.org.au

DONATIONS

  • People wishing to donate to support those impacted will be able to do so through the Lord Mayor’s Distress Relief Fund. Information is available here: https://appealswa.org.au/

EVACUATION CENTRE

  • An evacuation centres for people displaced by the cyclone remains open at QEII Seniors & Community Centre, 88 Durlacher Street, Geraldton.

IF YOU NEED SUPPORT

  • Emergency assistance may be available for individuals or families to alleviate the personal hardship or distress arising as a direct result of Tropical Cyclone Seroja.
  • If you require assistance or further information, phone the Department of Communities’ Disaster Response Hotline on 1800 032 965.
  • Though the cyclone has passed you can still find the most current official information on the changing situation at www.emergency.wa.gov.au
