A local government extraordinary election will be held on Saturday 30 November 2019 to fill one vacancy within the Shire of Chapman Valley. Nominations open on Thursday 17 October and Close and Thursday 24 October at 4.00pm.

The Shire of Chapman Valley is in receipt of an application proposing to site a 40m² second-hand transportable building upon 166 (Lot 191) Wittenoom Circle, and construct a 24m² enclosed extension to the building on-site and a 36m² deck area, to serve as an ancillary dwelling (‘granny flat’).

Congratulations to Jane Barndon & Cam Fitzgerald who created a fantastic shearing mural for the CV Museum with the assistance of a grant from Bendigo Bank. The mural was unveiled this morning at a morning tea. If you are heading to the Chapman Valley Show on Saturday be sure to call in to the Museum it is well worth a visit.

Western Power is trialling a new way of inspecting their network using Remotely Piloted Aircraft – commonly known as drones - to more quickly locate faults and reduce the duration of outages

The Shire has been successful in its attempts over the past two (or more) years to establish a highspeed fixed wireless internet service to our district. The Premier recently announced Logic IT as the successful business to establish the highspeed fixed wireless internet service across the Shire’s of Chapman Valley and Northampton. Main Roads WA and the Mid West Development Commission have been undertaking a study that is considering a realignment of the North West Coastal Highway to enable triple road-trains to travel south from their current termination point at Carnarvon to continue through to north of Perth. This will require several realignments to bypass Northampton, Geraldton and Dongara and the study is tasked with identifying the final corridor.
